About Jen

Firstly before I am anything else I am a Mum. This is the title I am most proud of. My beautiful baby boy Cooper is the light of my life and is my reason. He is the reason for everything in my life and I love him so much more every day.

Born and raised in Sydney’s western suburbs I always knew I was destined for greatness …. ok …. so that sounds like the beginning of a really bad True Hollywood story. So here is the real me …..

I had a very normal childhood with wonderful parents and a pain in the butt brother. We lived in a nice house, in a nice suburb and I went to a nice school. It was nothing flash or fancy, everything was just  …. normal. Very middle class suburbia!

I left school in year 11 not knowing what I wanted to do. I took a hairdressing apprenticeship to keep my mother happy. About 3 years into it I decided it wasn’t for me and found a job in dental. I wanted to be a paramedic and needed medical experience so this was the easiest way!

I stayed in my first dental nursing job for a little over a year and moved to job in Darlinghurst in Sydney’s CBD. This job changed my life forever.

Living in the suburbs especially Sydney’s west, it is very hard to imagine a life that could be different. We were all working class and were never around large amounts of wealth. I really thought if you had a brand new $30,000 car you were wealthy! But working for Dr Mark Levi changed all of that.

I discovered a whole new life and decided I wanted more out of life than just working hard to retire. I didn’t know how or what I was going to do but I knew that I wanted to be someone.

I worked for Dr Levi for 6 years and loved every moment of it. I got to mingle with the rich and famous, dine at some of the world’s greatest restaurants and travel overseas by plane for the very first time.

My very first trip overseas (ok I had been on a cruise, but this was my first plane trip overseas) was to Las Vegas for a dental conference. Donald Trump was keynote speaker and it really changed my life!

I met my husband in 2003 and like me he came from a middle class family and he wanted more out of life. When I first met him he was doing a few small things online and making a few dollars per month.

Since 2003 he has gone from being a fulltime employee of the Royal Australian Navy to a self employed entrepreneur. He now runs a very successful company and we were both able to leave our jobs in 2006. We have both worked so hard to make his company successful and I am so proud of him!

I started my first site in 2006 while planning our wedding. I discovered a lack of real reviews and real opinions in the bridal community. Everyone was so advertising focused so no names could ever be mentioned on forums if the company did not advertise on the site. So I set out to change that! That is how www.BeyondTheBride.com.au was born.

During my pregnancy I decided to create www.BeyondTheBaby.com.au we found a lot of our members on Beyond The Bride were moving on from weddings, so we created a parenting forum which has now launched into a full parenting resource website.

We have so many other sites planned for the future and I hope to be the Martha Stewart of Australia! Lifestyle websites for women!

I hope you will follow my blog and enjoy my journey as I make my son proud :)
